Request

A developer requests a new Application through a standardized workflow.

What's actually happening

  • Capture the Application name, owning team, Workload Type, and target Environment.
  • Validate the request against approved platform standards and required metadata.
  • Replace disconnected tickets and onboarding forms with one traceable request.
  • Developers do not need deep infrastructure or Kubernetes expertise to begin.

Step 02

Provision

Approved Google Cloud infrastructure and platform configuration are generated through controlled workflows.

What's actually happening

  • Google Cloud projects, IAM, Cloud SQL, Secret Manager, Cloud Storage, Artifact Registry, and required labels are provisioned from approved patterns.
  • Application and infrastructure repositories are generated from Golden Path templates.
  • GKE namespaces, quotas, labels, and baseline policies are configured consistently.
  • Runtime access is established through GKE Workload Identity Federation without long-lived Google Cloud keys.

Step 03

Wire CI/CD

A secure GitHub Actions delivery workflow is generated from approved platform templates.

What's actually happening

  • GitHub Actions authenticates to Google Cloud through external Workload Identity Federation.
  • Private ARC runners execute workflows inside the Platform GKE environment.
  • Build, test, secret scanning, SAST, dependency scanning, IaC scanning, and container image scanning follow the standard delivery path.
  • Artifacts are pushed to Artifact Registry and identified by immutable image digest.

Step 04

Deploy

Applications are promoted to GKE through an approved GitOps delivery path.

What's actually happening

  • Helm packages the Application using the approved Workload Type and runtime configuration.
  • Argo CD reconciles the desired Application state into the target GKE Environment.
  • The same immutable artifact is promoted between Environments instead of being rebuilt.
  • Approvals and promotion controls can be applied before higher-risk Environment changes.

Step 05

Govern

Platform standards remain enforced after onboarding and deployment.

What's actually happening

  • Config Sync reconciles namespaces, quotas, labels, and platform configuration from Git.
  • Policy Controller enforces admission policies and blocks non-compliant changes where required.
  • Binary Authorization and artifact controls restrict deployment to approved images.
  • Requests, pull requests, workflow results, approvals, policy decisions, and deployments create an auditable delivery trail.
